BEDFORD, Mass. – �۰�ͼ�� is pleased to welcome Hussam Atab as its new Director of Human Resources. With over 20 years of experience, Hussam is a respected HR professional in the industry.��

Atab joined �۰�ͼ�� in October of 2023. As Head of Human Resources, Atab oversees the organization’s HR initiatives and ensures every policy and program aligns with �۰�ͼ��’s core values and strategic plan, while championing diversity and inclusion at every level.

“My desire to join �۰�ͼ�� stems from a deep-seated commitment to mission-driven work and the profound impact I’ve witnessed it have on the community,” Atab said. “Working alongside the senior team, I am inspired by the passion that fuels our employees daily, driving transformative experiences for those people we serve.”

Atab has prior HR experience in the nonprofit and for-profit sectors. He holds degrees from Charles Sturt University (Australia), Deakin University (Australia), and American University of Beirut (Lebanon). In his free time, Hussam enjoys spending time with his family, being outdoors and searching for new light houses. His goal is to visit 25 new light houses this year.

BEDFORD, Mass. – �۰�ͼ�� is excited to share that seasoned mental health advocate Stephanie Judy has been promoted to the role of Chief Operating Officer.

Stephanie Judy joined �۰�ͼ�� in September of 2022 as Executive Vice President overseeing Children’s Mental Health and Outpatient Services. She has an impressive resume that includes dedicating the past 20 years to helping children and adults with mental health challenges, developmental disabilities and autism live successful lives.

“I am excited to continue and further grow the exceptional work our staff provides at �۰�ͼ��,” said Judy. “I am committed to championing individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges and working with them to live their lives to the fullest. I am proud to be part of an organization dedicated to maximizing each individual’s potential.”

“Stephanie brings with her years of front-line experience empowering those in foster care and individuals with behavioral health needs. She has also proved an inspiring and thoughtful leader who is a strong advocate for the needs of our children and adults. Before joining �۰�ͼ��, Judy was with The Mentor Network for 17 years and previously at Devereux in their foster care program. She has degrees from the College of Charleston and Salem State University.

We invite you to��walk��alongside Edinburg’s Shining Stars at this empowering event on Saturday, May 18th. The Massachusetts chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness sponsors this annual four-hour walk, which will kick off at the Parkman Bandstand in the heart of Boston Common at 9 a.m.

�۰�ͼ�� serves individuals of all ages facing mental health conditions, intellectual and developmental disabilities, co-occurring disorders, autism, and acquired brain injuries, and we believe all people have the potential to learn, the capacity for change, and the right to live a meaningful life in the community of their choosing. Our mission strongly aligns with NAMI’s commitment to mental health advocacy.

All are welcome. If walking isn’t feasible, you are welcome you to join other non-walkers at our table for engaging activities as we cheer everyone on, all while supporting NAMI’s vision of “Mental Health for ALL.” If you can’t make it to the event, please consider��contributing��to the cause through a donation.

Edinburg Center Scores a Thrilling Time at Women’s Pro Hockey Game

It all started when Natalie Q told her champion she was really interested in seeing a Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) game. Natalie is enrolled in the Edinburg Center’s Meaningful Whole Life��program where specially-trained staff (called champions) meet one-on-one with people to find out what they’re most passionate about and what things they really want to do. The timing was perfect. Not only had a new PWHL team started playing in Lowell, the team was also planning an event to tie in with Mental Health Awareness Month.

The team hosted Natalie and 50 others from the Edinburg for its Saturday May 4 game against Montreal. The game was a thriller with Boston beating its Canadian rival 4-3 with just 1:20 left in the final period. The stands were filled and the Edinburg Center was highlighted with a video on the Tsongas Arena’s Jumbotron. The Center also staffed an information table on the concourse to greet fans and share information about some of the services Edinburg offers.

Meaningful Whole Life program director Chris Starnes said, “It’s incredible when we find a community partner such as PWHL Boston and the Tsongas Center, and are able to provide one of our members with such a special day.” Meaningful Whole Life represents a unique approach to serving people with intellectual disabilities. Edinburg created the model to augment traditional day programs with a more personalized, action-oriented approach that encourages people to think big and get out into their communities.

Chris said the best part of the day was when Natalie turned to him with a big smile on her face and said “Thank you for this!”

Chelmsford’s Franklin Radgowski and Edinburg resident advocates for individuals with disabilities.

Franklin, a 41-year-old Chelmsford resident, who was born with cerebral palsy, watched as his friend, also a wheelchair user, struggled with accessing the St. Mary’s Church and had to be carried up the stairs. The issue posed a unique risk for disabled parishioners, so Radgowski decided to rise to the challenge and make his town more wheelchair-accessible. for his inspiring story.
